esidents living on Jl. Arif Rahman Hakim in Depok, West Java, have filed a lawsuit to challenge the Depok administration's policy to implement a one-way traffic system in the area.
"We have received a lawsuit from Beji residents, particularly those living on Jl. Arif Rahman Hakim, challenging the trial of the one-way traffic policy imposed by the city administration," Depok District Court spokesperson Teguh Arifiano said on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.
He said the documents submitted would be reviewed before the court decides whether to proceed with the case or not.
Jl. Arif Rahman Hakim, located in the southern part of Greater Jakarta, is one of the main roads affected by the policy, as the administration aims to reduce traffic congestion in the metropolitan area.
One month following the start of the trial, the Depok Transportation Agency said it had effectively reduced congestion and improved the flow of traffic.
However, the policy has drawn criticisms from residents and vendors, who say it puts them at a disadvantage and reduces their sales, prompting city councilors to urge that the administration revoke the policy. (fac)
