amily members of Vera Yusita Sumarna, 44, have declined to comment on the arrest of Jonny Setiawan, 36, who was alleged to have murdered the businesswoman last week.
Jonny, who is an employee at a noodle shop owned by Vera, was alleged to have an affair with her prior to her death.
On Monday, police arrested Jonny, who during the investigation claimed that he killed Vera after having an intercourse at his home in Cipondoh, Tangerang, Banten.
One member of Vera's family confirmed that Jonny was an employee. "Yes, he [the suspect] were the only employee,” Vera's cousin, Robi said.
Robi also said that Vera's husband and her teenage son were devastated by the murder.
“The family was shocked, especially because of the incessant news coverage about their affair [in the media] which said that had lasted for a year. I take pity on his son,” Robi said.
Jonny worked at Vera’s popular noodle joint, called Depot Bakmi Verlis, which was named after the co-founder’s name Vera and Lisa. The establishment was located near Vera’s house where she lived with her husband, Andri Hartono.
Robi said that Vera’s business was thriving in the past three months.
”[The murder] happened when the shop saw its largest number of customers,” Robi said as quoted by tempo.co on Wednesday. (dis)
