amily members of Vera Yusita Sumarna, 44, declined to comment on the arrest of Jonny Setiawan, 36, who was alleged to have murdered the businesswoman last week.
Jonny, an employee at a noodle shop owned by Vera, was alleged to have had an affair with her prior to her death.
On Monday, the police arrested Jonny, who during the investigation claimed he killed Vera after having sexual intercourse with her at his home in Cipondoh, Tangerang, Banten.
A member of Vera’s family confirmed that Jonny was an employee. “Yes, he was the only employee,” Vera’s cousin, Robi, said.
Robi also said that Vera’s husband and her teenage son were devastated by the murder.
“The family was shocked, especially because of the incessant news coverage about their affair, which they said lasted for a year. I pity his son,” Robi said, as quoted by tempo.co on Wednesday.
