oekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, is set to implement cashless transactions for its parking system, officials have said.
Cashless transactions have been implemented as a payment system in several public transportation modes.
Soekarno-Hatta airport spokesperson Dewandono Prasetyo said on Friday the airport management would implement cashless payment of its parking fees starting from October.
He said the payment system would be implemented at the airport’s Terminal 3, which has piloted the program.
“The cashless transaction system will soon be implemented in parking areas of Terminal 1 and 2 as well,” he said as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
Separately, airport product and service provider Angkasa Pura Solusi president director Maulidin Wahid Honre confirmed the cashless transaction system had been on trial at Terminal 3 for full implementation in October.
He hoped the implementation of the payment system at the airport would support the government's program to increase the use of cashless transactions that had been implemented on toll roads, among others.
"We hope the policy will improve the use of e-money in this country," Maulidin said.
He said the company was preparing the implementation of the system by synchronizing parking systems in all terminals of the airport. (rdi/ebf)
