he Jakarta Police have slapped a travel ban on former president director of PT Asuransi Allianz Life Indonesia Joachim Wessling after naming him a suspect in a criminal case last week.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said that investigators handling a criminal case implicating the insurance company had asked the Immigration Office to ban Wessling from leaving the country.
The travel ban also applies to former Allianz Indonesia claims manager Yuliana Firmansyah, who has also been named a suspect in the case.
The Jakarta Police named the two executives suspects for allegedly refusing to grant medical claims by two customers.
The police charged the two executives with violating the 1999 Consumer Protection Law for allegedly breaching contracts with customers.
Immigration Office spokesperson Agung Sampurno confirmed on Monday that the police had filed a request for a travel ban for the two former Allianz Indonesia executives.
Agung however could not confirm whether Wessling, a German national, was still in the country. "We have to check the data first," Agung said as quoted by tempo.co.
