construction crane that was used to build light rail transit (LRT) Corridor 1 Kelapa Gading-Rawamangun, fell down onto a shop on Tuesday morning.

Head of the Kelapa Gading Police, Comr. Arief Fazrulrahman stated that the crane fell on the two-story building located on Jl. Kelapa Nias Raya, Pegangsaan Dua, next to a mosque in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta.

The accident occurred when state-owned construction company PT Wijaya Karya was setting a girder. Suddenly there was a loud sound because the crane fell, striking the top of the shop.

“Inside the building, which is used as a florist shop, there were seven shop staffers taking a break. All of them immediately moved to the lower floor after the crash. Some of them were injured by broken glass,” said Arief as quoted by kompas.com.

Because of the accident, Doni Cahyadi, the shop’s owner, has to repair the collapsed rooftop of his shop. The material losses incurred in the accident are yet to be known. (syl/wit)
