edestrians were told to avoid the Jakarta Police headquarters on Wednesday morning after two suspicious bags were found at its entrance, sparking a bomb scare.
The Jakarta Police bomb squad (Jibom), however, confirmed that the bags did not contain explosives.
Earlier that morning, a police officer spotted a suspicious-looking black suitcase and a blue backpack near the headquarters’ entrance.
He reported his discovery to Jibom, which quickly secured the area. After a thorough investigation, the squad found that the bags contained clothes and books. Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said the police were still looking for the owner of the bags.
The police have questioned one witness, a Malaysian citizen, about the incident.
