ight smoke grenades and 15 tear gas canisters were found by a scavenger at the Cipayung landfill in Pancoran Mas, Depok, West Java, on Thursday.
The active weapons were all made by state-owned weapon manufacturer PT Pindad in 2002 and 2011.
Four of the grenades were large-sized, while six of the tear gas canisters were open when the scavenger found them, said Pancoran Mas Police chief Comr. Roni Wowor.
"The grenades only produce smoke and are usually used during training and skydiving to detect wind direction. So, their danger level is low," Roni said as quoted by kompas.com.
The police are still investigating how the weapons ended up in the landfill. (yon)
