o keep his promise to run to work at least once a week, Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno ran 10 kilometers on Friday morning from his home in Senopati, South Jakarta, to the National Monument (Monas) compound in Gambir, Central Jakarta, which is close to the City Hall.
By the time he arrived at the Monas compound, the newly inaugurated deputy governor went straight to a group of people who were doing gymnastics, and joined them. They looked surprised with the presence of Sandiaga, tempo.co reported.
City secretary Saefullah and former national runner Eduardus Nabunome also accompanied Sandiaga.
The deputy governor also approached a group of young men who were playing basketball and requested to join the game.
He said he would start to follow such healthy activities from that day on. “I will run to work once a week to promote a healthy lifestyle and reduce traffic congestion,” he said, adding he could also monitor the progress of construction projects in the city while running. (vny)
