tate-owned electricity company PLN kicked off in Greater Jakarta on Wednesday the operation of 16 for rent giant power banks with a capacity of 250 kilo volt ampere (kVA).
The “Power Bank Express Service” was inspired by the use of power banks for gadgets, said Greater Jakarta PLN general manager M. Ikhsan Asaad during the launch of the service at PLN’s office in Jakarta.
He said the innovation was part of PLN’s efforts to provide environmentally friendly energy for outdoor activities.
“[Energy from] a power bank is cheaper than from generators with an easier connection, not noisy and environmentally friendly,” he said as reported by tribunnews.com, adding that customers were only required to pay for the power used.
PLN is targeting construction companies that need electricity for outdoor projects and organizers of outdoor events like music concerts.
“We hope that with the innovation, we can help our customers obtain electricity that produces no pollution and is cheap,” Ikhsan added. (bbn)
