he Jakarta Police reported that about 103 people worked for a fireworks factory in Kosambi, Tangerang, Banten, which exploded on Thursday morning. Of the 103 people, 23 are reportedly dead and 43 others injured.
Jakarta Police general crimes director chief Sr. Comr. Nico Afinta said they were currently working on finding the remaining 37 workers.
“We are still looking for the missing people as well as identifying some victims,” Nico said at the scene.
The fire started at about 9 a.m. and lasted for three hours.
Local residents reported hearing a loud explosion before seeing a cloud of smoke just above the warehouse. Students and teachers of a state junior high school near the site of the explosion, SMPN 1 Kosambi, were evacuated. (vny)
