he National Police Criminal Investigation Department chief Comr. Gen. Ari Dono Sukmanto said on Thursday police were developing an advanced closed-circuit television (CCTV) that can detect a fugitive’s face.

“We will develop CCTV that can detect the most wanted criminals’ faces. So, if they walk pass it an alarm will sound,” Ari told kompas.com.

He said the CCTV will be installed at several spots, including police stations, airports and harbors.

The profile of the fugitive would automatically show up on the machine, Ari added.

“After that we can catch them.”

The fugitives’ profiles would be compiled from the government’s database, including identity cards and the police’s criminal database, he added. (hol)
