T

he income of Jakarta’s civil servants will decrease next year because of a new remuneration system that has been approved by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

“When the discussion about the 2018 city budget is done, we’ll discuss the new scheme on regional performance allowance [TKD],” said Syarif, the secretary of the City Council’s commission overseeing general administration and employee affairs, as quoted by wartakotalive.com on Wednesday.

The council would discuss the issue with the Jakarta Employment Agency (BKD) in a closed meeting as it was considered a sensitive issue.

According to the commission’s evaluation, many working units (SKPD), sub-district and district offices had low-budget absorption.

“Some only absorb 50 percent and some just 10 percent, but the employees’ performance allowance reaches 80 to 90 percent. What is the meaning of that?” the council’s Deputy Speaker Muhammad Taufik said.

Currently, the council is set to cut the allowances of the Communications and Information and Statistics Agency.

The BKD has concluded the new scheme to calculate the regional performance allowance.

The scheme was announced at the beginning of the new Jakarta governor’s tenure, but the city council said it had nothing to do with the change of leadership.

“It is not related to [a new leader]. This is purely from evaluation results,” Taufik said. (wnd)
