okyo-based Otsuka Pharmaceutical has signed a sponsorship deal with the Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) that names its products Pocari Sweat and Soyjoy as the official healthy drink and snack of the 2018 Games.
“It is an honor for Pocari Sweat and Soyjoy […]. We hope the products can help athletes perform at their best,” Yoshihiro Bando, president director of PT Amerta Indah Otsuka — the Indonesian affiliate of Otsuka Pharmaceutical — said on Tuesday.
Otsuka is the latest addition to the list of Asian Games sponsors, after six state-owned enterprises agreed to be prestige sponsors of the event. Later, four Chinese companies came along, both as prestige and support sponsors. INASGOC head Erick Thohir said the organizers had seen a good trend in terms of sponsorship over the past two months.
“[The signing ceremonies with a list of sponsors] is an important and historical milestone for the INASGOC.
“The commitments, signed consecutively, show that the business sector — both locally and internationally — is confident about the Games and supportive of its success,” said Erick.
In the history of the Asian Games, Pocari was the official sponsor of the 1998 Games in Bangkok, the 2002 Games in Busan, the 2006 Games in Doha and the 2014 Games in Incheon.
