You will no longer need cash to park your car at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport starting next year.

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport spokesman Dewandono Prasetyo Nugroho said a new parking payment system would be implemented at all of the airport’s terminals.

A trial of the new system is to be held throughout December to introduce it to users. “From early 2018 on, the e-payment system will be fully implemented,” said Dewandono in a statement received by The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

Drivers will be able to use cards issued by both private and state-owned banks, like the E-Money card issued by Bank Mandiri, Brizzi issued by Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Tap Cash issued by Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) and Flash issued by Bank Central Asia (BCA).

During the trial period, parking lot operator PT Angkasa Pura Solusi, a subsidiary of PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II), will evaluate the system, including possible long queues at entrance gates that could cause congestion on airport roads.

Motorists can buy cards at the parking gates or top up cards they hold. (bbn)
