he Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) has pledged to accommodate the spatial needs of broadcasters covering the 2018 Asian Games — both inside and outside of the International Broadcasting Center (IBC) at the Jakarta Convention Center in Senayan, Jakarta.
Broadcasting director Linda Wahyudi said her team would not only cater to Chinese media, which asked the organizers to provide them with 1,000 square meters of space, but also to rights holders from Japan and South Korea.
“[Japan and South Korea] also requested a specific area for their respective broadcasting rooms,” said Linda on the sidelines of the 2018 Asian Games Media Forum event in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Tuesday, Antara reported.
She added that there were 7,100 square meters of space in Hall B of the IBC, enough to accommodate all official broadcasters.
Besides China, Japanese broadcasting group NHK reportedly asked for 300 square meters of space for its crew of 300 while TBS, also from Japan, asked for 600 square meters for its crew of 250. South Korea, meanwhile, requested 800 square meters of space for its KBS and SBS broadcasters. The Games’ international broadcast service will use 2,500 square meters within the center.
The 2018 Games will be co-hosted by Jakarta and Palembang and is set to run from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2.
