akarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno has confirmed that a Rp 40.2 billion (US$2.97 million) grant would be allocated to an association of educators and practitioners of early childhood education, although its headquarters’ address was invalid.
The decision will take place even though the administration has found that the address of the Association of Indonesian Educators and Teaching Practitioners for Early Childhood Education (Himpaudi) office was invalid.
"Yes, it will not be scrapped [from the 2018 regional budget]," Sandiaga said at City Hall on Tuesday, as quoted by kompas.com.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan inaugurated his wife, Fery Farhati Ganis, as the Bunda PAUD (the matron of the early childhood education schools). The position was always held by the governor’s spouse.
Sandiaga further asked public not to take the Himpaudi office address issue seriously. The most important thing was that children in early childhood get quality education and their teachers were noticed, Sandiaga added.
Jakarta Education Agency head Sopan Andrianto previously said the grant would be distributed to 6,700 PAUD in the city, with each teacher getting Rp 500,000.
Sopan admitted that there was a wrong verification of the Himpaudi office, citing that the real address was on Jl. Poltangan Raya No. 25 of RW 9 (the 9th community unit) in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.
However, based on a kompas.com investigation on Tuesday, the address was wrong. A nearby resident said the Himpaudi’s address was located at the 5th community unit on the same road. Yet, the address was again wrong as it belonged to PT Tegap Mitra Nusantra.
However, PT Tegap Mitra Nusantra director Irsyad Ma'as further admitted that Himpaudi's had used the place as its office. (yon)
