Guess what?: Sheryl abandons guitar for ‘Sweet Talk’

Singer Sheryl Sheinafia left her guitar behind to showcase her dancing skills in the music video for her new single “Sweet Talk.”

The 20-year-old said she made the decision because the concept for her video did not emphasize guitar-playing.

“I had to train hard to be able to sing and dance,” she said as quoted by kompas.com in Jakarta during the video’s launch. “In the beginning, I didn’t feel comfortable, but since the video did not feature the guitar much, [to not dance] would not be OK.”

Despite her decision, Sheryl, who took up dance lessons for a month, was not entirely guitar-free, as she brought her guitar with her everywhere she went.

“Honestly, even in my room, I felt like constantly playing the guitar. As soon as I am in the room, I hold my guitar. But I have to compromise, just like everything else in the world, which is good,” said Sheryl.

The singer, who has also starred in several feature films including Galih & Ratna, collaborated with singer Rizky Febian and YouTuber Chandra Liow in the video.
