Seven workouts scientifically proven to burn the most calories

According to data collected by Reader’s Digest, the following exercises have been proven to burn the most calories.

Fast-paced running

Running is one of the most simple exercises you can do, largely because it doesn’t require any equipment — technically not even running shoes, although they may be needed on some running surfaces.

Fitness expert Chris Ryan, CSCS, CPT told Reader’s Digest that running at 8 mph burns 1,074 calories every hour for a 200-pound (approximately 90.7 kg) person.

Six destinations to check out in Sumenep

Sumenep regency is among East Java’s hidden gems. Nestled on Madura Island, the area offers various tourist attractions, including sandy beaches, beautiful marine life, unique village traditions and the last kraton (palace) in East Java.

Those wanting to learn more about Sumenep can check out the following list of destinations as compiled by kompas.com.

Gili Iyang

Those looking for fresh air may schedule a visit to Gili Iyang island, as the place is reportedly blessed with some of the cleanest air in the area. No wonder the residents of the island are said to live long lives.

Gili Iyang island can be reached by speedboat from Sumenep port.

Kaesang Pangarep promotes local dishes through mobile app

The youngest son of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Kaesang Pangarep, has introduced a mobile app named Madhang that aims to preserve and promote local dishes.

Kaesang, who is one of the app’s co-founders, collaborated with a team from Dian Nuswantoro University (Udinus) in Semarang, Central Java, in creating Madhang, which literally means to “eat” in Javanese.

At a glance, Madhang offers similar food delivery services as Go-Food or GrabFood, but it focuses more on small-scale local food sellers. It also offers the option to dine in at the restaurant or stall, or take the food to-go.

How to stick to your New Year’s resolution

A study in Australia in 2015 found that almost 80 percent of people usually fail in keeping their resolutions within three months. Some of us maybe even can recognize those people (or maybe ourselves?) that can give up their resolutions within days. Given the case, is there any other way that we can try to last longer before we give up? Furthermore, is there a way to make the resolutions more achievable? Let’s try these simple steps:

Set realistic resolutions

Keep in mind that it is very important to set realistic resolutions. Do not aim for a spectacular yet unrealistic goal. Once you fail to achieve that because it is too unrealistic, you will easily lose hope and give up the resolution entirely. Instead, try to make it simple, doable and measurable.

For example, if you aim to have a more fit body, rather that setting your resolutions to “exercising twice a day, everyday,” you may want to try “exercising at least three times a week.” Sounds less daunting, right?
