The Embassy of India and the Bandung city administration are working together to present the people of Bandung with India Culture Week, an ambitious cultural showcase that opens today and is set to run until Jan. 5.
The week-long event aims at showcasing different facets of Indian tourism, arts, culture, food, dance and film. The list of events begin with the Visit India Tourism Seminar at 10 a.m. at the Hotel Bidakara Grand Savoy Homann Bandung that will feature the participation of a dozen prominent Indian tour and travel companies, followed by the India Food Festival, which will present the people of Bandung with authentic Indian delicacies, curries and sweets, at the same location at 12:30 p.m.
Other events include a photo exhibition that documents the history between India and Indonesia at the recently inaugurated Bandung Creative Hub, as well as a film festival at De Majestic Theater that will screen Bollywood hits like English Vinglish, Tanu Weds Manu and Love Aaj Kal. Finally, there will be a cultural music performance at Jl. Braga Square on New Year’s Eve that serves as a curtain raiser for 2018. The event is expected to leave the people of Bandung with a better understanding and appreciation of India.
