he Bogor Police have received Rp 25 billion (US$1.86 million) in operational funds to secure the regional head election in Bogor regency, West Java, in 2018.
Adj. Sr.Comr. Andy Muhammad Dicky Pastika said the funds were from the Bogor regency administration and the West Java provincial administration.
He spoke after a call for readiness ceremony at Tegar Beriman field in Cibinong, Bogor, on Friday to mark the start of a security operation codenamed Operation Mantap Praja Lodaya 2018.
The operation is to secure the upcoming simultaneous elections of the West Java governor and deputy governor and the Bogor regent and deputy regent.
Andy said the Rp 25 billion would be used to secure all stages of the Bogor regency election, starting from the registration of candidates to the inauguration of elected regional heads.
There will be around 7,600 polling stations (TPS) in 38 districts across the regency, which has around 5.5 million people.
Andy further said around 2,000 police and military personnel would be assigned to secure the elections. He added that the police had mapped out areas prone to security disruptions that might erupt during the campaign period, during election logistics distribution, on voting day, vote counting and recapitulation and the inauguration of elected leaders.
Bogor Regent Nurhayanti said she was optimistic that the regency and provincial elections would run peacefully because the District Consultative Leadership Forum (Muspika) and Regional Consultative Leadership Forum (Muspida) in Bogor regency had carried out Pilkada Damai (Peaceful Election) campaigns since last year.
