our Indonesians may be named suspects in the alleged murder of a cosmetics trader on Jan. 5, Indonesian diplomats said on Thursday.
Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Rusdi Kirana said four Indonesians allegedly attacked M. Nor Syazrin Rasdi, 29, at his cosmetics stall. Nor died at the scene.
“Twenty Indonesians have been interrogated in the case so far and four of them may be named suspects,” Rusdi told The Jakarta Post over the phone on Friday.
He said the National Police’s attaché in Kuala Lumpur had coordinated with local police in the investigation. The police are also investigating the motive behind the alleged attack that took place at Sri Muda night market in Shah Alam, Selangor.
“The police are still processing the case. Resentment may have motivated the attack,” he said.
The embassy is waiting for the investigation to conclude, he said, “but we will provide legal assistance if the case proceeds further,” Rusdi said.
Previously, Malaysian police reportedly arrested 10 Indonesians, including two women, on Saturday morning.
The Foreign Ministry’s director for the protection of Indonesian citizens and entities abroad, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, confirmed the arrests and said the investigation was ongoing.
“We cannot provide more information because Malaysian authorities are also still focused on finding the main suspect,” Iqbal said.
