eputy Jakarta Governor Sandiaga Uno is scheduled to appear for questioning on Thursday following the issuance of a second summons by the Jakarta Police in connection with a land-embezzlement and money-laundering case.

Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono told kompas.com on Tuesday that Sandiaga would be questioned as a witness in the case.

According to the widely circulated summons, the investigators have increased the status of the case to investigation level.

Sandiaga’s business colleague, Andreas Tjahjadi, has been named a suspect in the case.

Sandiaga had skipped questioning on Oct. 11, 2017. At the time, his attorneys requested the postponement of the investigation until his inauguration as deputy governor.

As the police had reportedly not heard from Sandiaga since his inauguration, they issued another summons on Monday.

The case emerged during Sandiaga’s election campaign in 2017 when a businessman named Joni Hidayat filed a police report against Sandiaga, alleging his involvement in embezzlement in connection with a land sale in South Tangerang, Banten, in 2012.
