akarta Governor Anies Baswedan hoped the city’s tax revenue this year would exceed the target of Rp 38.1 trillion (US$2.7 billion).
“I told Pak Edi [the Jakarta Tax and Levy Board Agency head] to get Rp 40 trillion if it is possible. But I'm just beginning to measure the city’s potential tax revenue,” Anies said Wednesday, as quoted by kompas.com.
He felt certain that the city could collect a higher tax revenue because there are many regional assets, which should be the source for the revenue, that remained untouchable to the previous administration.
“I predict the tax revenue will be really big, especially the water tax. But so far we don’t know. We are still trying to find out. Later, if we have noted all the [tax sources], we can project [the revenue],” Anies said earlier.
In 2017, the administration aimed to receive Rp 35.36 trillion of tax revenue but ended up obtaining Rp 36.1 trillion. (wnd)
