eputy Jakarta Governor Sandiaga Uno answered the Jakarta Police’s summons on Thursday for questioning in a case of alleged land embezzlement, in which a colleague of his has been named a suspect.

Sandiaga appeared at the Jakarta Police headquarters at around 12 p.m. after attending a meeting with the National Team for the Acceleration of Poverty Reduction (TNP2K) in Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta.

He declined to comment upon his arrival.

Previously, Sandiaga had said he was ready for the interrogation as a witness in the case.

Because of his position as deputy governor, Sandiaga said that he would be assisted by the city’s legal bureau throughout the questioning.

He added that it was a civil case involving two big companies, one of which was in liquidation.

“The dispute occurred between two companies. I’ll provide full disclosure about this case and hide nothing,” Sandiaga said at City Hall.

Sandiaga and his business partner Andreas Tjahjadi were reported by tycoon Edward Soeryadjaya, who was represented by lawyer Fransiska Kumalawati Susilo, to the Jakarta Police prior to the gubernatorial election last year.

Both were reported for allegedly misappropriating funds from the sale of a piece of land in Curug, South Tangerang, in 2012.

In October last year, the police named Andreas a suspect.

Meanwhile, Fransiska again reported Sandiaga to the police on Jan. 9 for alleged fraud involving a land sale at Kadu Village, Tangerang, also in 2012. (cal)
