The Embassy of Slovakia in Indonesia inaugurated on Wednesday evening an exhibition showcasing Slovakia and its beauty at Artotel Thamrin in Central Jakarta.

Titled, Did You Know? This is Slovakia, the exhibition was part of ongoing celebrations to mark Slovakia’s 25th anniversary as well as the silver jubilee of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Slovakia

The exhibit was inaugurated by Slovakian Ambassador to Indonesia Michal Slivovič and the Indonesian Foreign Ministry’s director general for American and European affairs, Muhammad Anshor.

Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno was also present at the colorful event.

During his opening speech, Ambassador Slivovič highlighted several milestones that occurred in the 25 years of Indonesian-Slovakian relations, and praised Indonesia as a good friend and partner.

“Indonesia is one of those countries that recognized Slovakia since the very first day of our independence. This is especially important for us. Our relationship is firm and solid without any issues,” Slivovič said.

Anshor echoed Slivovič ’s sentiments with a speech that underlined the importance of Slovakia to Indonesia.

“The 25 years of friendship between our two nations proves that no distance is far enough to stand in the way of our relations, friendship and cooperation,” Anshor said. “Tonight, with the opening of this exhibition, we are going to discover a glimpse of Slovakia. Through this exhibition, you’ll understand why Indonesia [highly] values the friendship and cooperation with Slovakia.”

The exhibition features around 30 photographs and posters that highlight the best of Slovakian history, nature and culture.

Each photograph is designed to educate visitors about the country, featuring notable individuals such as wireless telecommunications pioneer Jozef Murgaš; renowned dishes, such as Bratislava Rolls; global companies like IT security giant ESET; tourist attractions, such as the spa town of Trenčianske Teplice; and general facts about the country, such as its strong car industry.

Slovakia is a Central European country that is famous for picturesque scenes and spa treatments. After the dissolution of Czechoslovakia on Dec. 31, 1992, the Slovak Republic was established on Jan. 1, 1993.
