akarta Transportation Agency deputy head Sigit Wijatmoko said electronic parking meters on Jl.Sabang, Central Jakarta, would go online next week.
The meters in the area were deactivated because cooperation with the machine operator, PT Mata Biru, ended on Dec.4 last year.
“We have 201 machines and we are relocating them first. This week, we’ll finish the [installation] in Sabang because there are only 11 machines there,” Sigit said on Friday, as quoted by kompas.com.
He added that the meters would be managed by the agency’s parking unit.
Other inactive meters are located on Jl. Falatehan, South Jakarta, and Jl. Boulevard, North Jakarta.
The agency has yet to decide whether they will install them in those areas or put it out to tender.
“We have two options. We either use the 201 machines or collaborate with other parties [to operate them]. We’ll evaluate it first. If we hold an open tender, we have to calculate the minimum revenue we can get and not just share the revenue like we did with Mata Biru,” Sigit said. (wnd)
