he 6.4 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday has damaged part of the electricity network in Banten, with hundreds of households left without electricity, said state-owned electricity firm PLN spokesman for Banten distribution Muharman.
He said in Lebak regency, Banten, electricity networks of 13 districts in the regency had been affected by the strong quake, causing a power outage at 344 houses on Tuesday.
“We are in the process of repairing the network to ensure that the electricity supply can immediately be restored,” said Muharman as reported by tribunnews.com, adding that PLN Banten distribution had offered an apology to the customers for the power outage.
Among the districts that were seriously affected by the earthquake include Panggarangan, Cihara, Cibeber, Cilongrang and Bayah.
“Our officers are working to restore the electricity supply. In certain areas, we have managed to fix the damage and the households can receive electricity again. But in other areas, restoration is ongoing,” he added. (bbn)
