tate oil and gas company PT Pertamina has finally resumed shipments of fuel to Karimunjawa, an archipelago in the Java Sea, which was halted due to bad weather.
The group of islands, located some 80 kilometers off the northern coast of Central Java, is experiencing fuel shortages and depleting stocks as a result of the disruption, kompas.com reported on Sunday.
The report did not say how the shortage has affected the lives of the archipelago’s 90,000 inhabitants.
Karimunjawa, famous for its marine garden and natural park, is a popular weekend getaway for residents of Central Java.

Pertamina shipped at least 1,500 units of 3-kg canisters of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) on Friday from Jepara Port and 115 kiloliters of gasoline from Semarang, Central Java, on Saturday, according to Pertamina’s Marketing Operation Region IV communications manager, Andar Titi Lestari
Karimunjawa is vulnerable to recurrent fuel crises because the archipelago can only be reached by sea. In January, bad weather also disrupted fuel shipments. (roi)
