ondok Labu subdistrict in South Jakarta experienced flooding of up to 30 centimeters on Monday morning, as the Krukut River burst its banks after heavy rain on Sunday evening.
Pondok Labu subdistrict head Siti Fauziah said the flooding began just after midnight.
Residents of the subdistrict, most of whom live in two-story houses, appear to have been prepared for the flooding, which is common in the area during the rainy season.
"The flood was not that bad, because the Krukut River was dredged last year by the water management unit," Siti added, according to a report from kompas.com.
Siti said other areas, such as Jl. Haji Ipin, were still safe from the river overflow. (cal)
