mid public anticipation of another groundbreaking of a zero down-payment housing project in Rorotan, North Jakarta, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the city had no such project besides the existing one.

“Who said that [the city had such a project in Rorotan]? I’ve never said anything whenever I was asked [about that],” Anies told the media on Wednesday.

Anies went on to say he could not promise there would be another zero down-payment project anytime soon, adding that the city officials had yet to finish deliberating on the matter.

However, he assured that the housing project in Rorotan did not belong to the city administration. He said he would give permission to any private company that would like to participate and help the administration to fulfill the housing pledge.

“But if the the city administration is involved in the project's implementation, there is a certain procedure and legal steps that must be followed,” he added.

The city administration previously held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Klapa Village apartments in Pondok Kelapa, East Jakarta under the scheme on Jan. 18. Klapa Village is being constructed by city-owned developer Pembangunan Sarana Jaya. (vla)
