A tornado recently struck the northern part of Bekasi in West Java, damaging at least 44 houses, a district head said on Friday.
North Bekasi district head Lukmanul Hamim said the twister hit Kali Abang Tengah sub district, North Bekasi district on Wednesday.
The affected residents have been moved to several evacuation points and they have received food aid.
“The residents have already received aid such as instant noodles,” Lukman said as quoted by kompas.com on Friday.
He added that district officers were calculating the amount of loss following the disaster to be reported to the government. He hoped that the government could help with the damaged houses. (vny)
