T

he delivery of MRT rolling stock scheduled to arrive at Tanjung Priok Port in North Jakarta from Japan on Monday morning has been hampered by bad weather, affecting the shipping route of the cargo ship transporting two trains.

“According to the plan, it should have arrived today at Tanjung Priok. Maybe it’ll arrive tomorrow, because there is a problem regarding the weather,” said Tubagus Hikmatullah, the corporate secretary of project developer PT MRT Jakarta, as quoted by kompas.com on Monday.

The cargo ship, Ellensborg, is delivering two trains consisting of 12 cars.

Currently, the ship is reportedly in the South China Sea.

PT MRT had ordered 16 train sets from Japan. They will be operated in the first phase of MRT, connecting Lebak Bulus in South Jakarta to the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle in Central Jakarta. (fac)
