A man was found dead on Friday in a parked car at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport’s Terminal 1C.
Airport police spokesman Second Insp. Prayogo said the man behind the wheel, 47-year-old Amar, had apparently died from gas poisoning.
“We brought him to the airport’s medical center,” he said as, reported by wartakota.tribunnews.com, adding that Amar was an employee of a travel agency.
Prayogo went on to explain that security officers at the parking lot had become suspicious when they saw Amar apparently sleeping soundly while his car’s engine was still on.
The security officers knocked on the car’s window, but Amar did not respond.
They then broke the window to find that Amar had passed away.
“Amar allegedly has been poisoned by the engine’s gas,” Prayogo said. The car’s air condition was also running at the time.
In a separate incident on Tuesday, a man named Suryono was found dead in the driver’s seat of a car in South Jakarta. He reportedly died of exhaustion while driving.
“He was driving alone. He passed away and was locked inside the car with its engine still on,” Pejaten Barat Police chief Second Insp. Sudirman told kompas.com. (vla)
