fficials at the South Jakarta Social Affairs Agency's social services office have found a 6-year-old student from Maluku who was left behind by his group at Tebet Station in South Jakarta.

The student, Abdul Karim, and his friends departed from Sukabumi, West Java, at 6 a.m. to visit the house of one of their relatives in Bukit Duri, South Jakarta, but Abdul was separated from his friends and left behind at Tebet Station.

South Jakarta Social Affairs Agency staff member Rifki said Abdul was separated from his group because he went to the bathroom inside the station.

“A commuter took Abdul to the Tebet Police precinct to file a missing persons report,” Rifki said in a statement on Monday.

The police contacted officials from the social affairs agency to pick up Abdul.

“Abdul has been taken to the Bina Insan Bangun 1 social shelter on Jl. Kembangan Raya No. 2 in South Kedoya, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta. Anyone that wants to find Abdul can contact the shelter at 0215814256,” Rifki said.

Rifki said Abdul was a student of a pesantren (Islamic boarding school) in Sukabumi, West Java, and that he could not remember the name of his pesantren as he enrolled in the school three months ago.

“We hope that anyone who knows him will contact the shelter to pick him up,” he said. (ami)
