Residents of Cibitung, West Cikarang, Bekasi, found on Thursday a baby boy who had been abandoned in front of a house.
According to West Cikarang Police officer Adj. Comr. Wuryanti, a resident identified as Sarwoko heard a baby crying at around 5 a.m.
He followed the sound and found the baby wrapped in a piece of cloth, lying on a chair in front of a house.
He reported the finding to Neighborhood Unit (RT) head Rosyid who later took the baby to the West Cikarang Police, handing him over to officers of the Babinkamtibmas (police officers assigned to villages as advisors on security and public order).
“We took the baby to the Budi Luhur Clinic in Cibitung to check his health before giving him to the Bekasi Social Agency,” Wuryanti said as quoted by kompas.com on Friday.
The West Cikarang Police continue to investigate the baby’s background. (iwa)
