he Jakarta Council has started deliberations on four more bylaws, namely pertaining to education management, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), a street light tax and a parking tax.
To date, the council has only passed four bylaws this year, namely on industries, markets, regional public firm (PUD) Pasar Jaya and the 2017-2022 regional mid-term plan, which were all passed simultaneously on April 10. Deliberations on the first three bylaws began in 2017.
Last year, the council passed only 12 out of the 32 bylaws listed in the 2017 city legislation program (Prolegda). The remaining 20 bylaws were then included in this year’s list.
A member of the council’s legislation body (Bapemperda), Bestari Barus, previously said that completing all 45 bylaws by the end of this year would be impossible as it took one month to legally draft each bylaw.
“I think we can only complete 18 bylaws this year,” the NasDem party politician told The Jakarta Post last week. (vny)
