Greater Jakarta: City’s security status lowered

T

he Jakarta Police have urged residents to continue their daily activities as per usual as the police have lowered the city’s security status from the highest alert level.

“What’s important now is that citizens go about their activities as usual while police personnel will still remain on alert,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono told reporters on Tuesday.

Argo stressed that the security alert was mainly aimed at police personnel, who remained on standby for any possible emergencies.

Argo said police officers in the city would also remain on alert with extra security measures.

At the Jakarta Police headquarters in South Jakarta, police officers armed with long-barreled weapons guarded the entrance, and every visitor had to undergo a security check by the officers guarding the entrance.

The Jakarta Police had declared a “siaga 1” security alert in the city on Sunday, hours after bomb attacks occurred in several places in East Java.
