he families of six police officers, who were killed during the Mobile Brigade headquarters (Mako Brimob) prison riot last week and another one who was stabbed to death near the headquarters in the same week, have been given houses, the National Police say.
On Friday, National Police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian said the houses were provided by donors who refused to be named.
“Some donors expressed their appreciation for those who have fallen while on duty. So many people wanted to help [the victims’ families] but we can’t reveal their identities for security reasons,” he said during the handover ceremony at the National Police headquarters on Friday, as reported by kompas.com.
The former counterterrorism squad Densus 88 head noted that the police were currently collecting aid, some of which were in the form of financial assistance.
“We will distribute the aid to the families of the victims,” he added.
Beneficiaries included families of First Insp. Yudi Respuji Siswanto, Adj. Second Insp. Benny Setiadi, Brig. Sandi Setyo Nugroho, First Brig. Syukron Fadhli and First Insp. Wahyu Catur Pamungkas; all of whom were killed during a prison riot in Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java, last week. The sixth beneficiary is the family of Adj. Second Insp. Marhum Prencje who was stabbed to death by a suspected terrorist in the same week.
