Ogan Komering oil & gas field starts operations

ertamina has commenced the operations of its Ogan Komering oil and gas field in South Sumatra on Sunday, one month after the state energy giant signed its production sharing contract (PSC) with the government.
The Ogan Komering field is now managed under a gross split scheme by Pertamina's subsidiary, PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), after the joint operation between PHE and Jadestone Energy Ltd ended.
Besides Ogan Komering, Pertamina also inked a new contract for Tuban field in East Java.
"The operations of the Ogan Komering and Tuban fields are one of our strategies to ensure the sufficiency of national oil and gas production," PHE president director Gunung Sardjono Hadi said in a press statement The Jakarta Post received on Monday.
The two oil and gas fields are among the 10 contracts Pertamina has signed with the government this year.
The Ogan Komering field has a gross production of 2,250 barrels of oil per day (bopd) and 8.64 million standard cubic feet (sfd) of gas per day.
Pertamina had lowered its 2018 gross production target to 1,950 bopd and 8.2 million sfd gas per day. In order to increase the production volume, PHE plans to revive inactive wells, repair facilities and commercialize unexplored wells.
"In a bid to increase our reserves, we will conduct a GGR [geology, geophysics & reservoir] study, 3D seismic exploration and drillings," Gunung said, which would also fulfill contractual requirements for the first three years. (bbn)
