he management of Dharma Bakti Temple in Glodok, West Jakarta, is offering free takjil (light iftar snacks) to passersby and local residents observing Ramadhan.
Some 300 servings of takjil are prepared every day at the temple during the fasting month.
“Every day, we make porridge by ourselves and order rice packets from nearby rice sellers, 300 servings each,” said temple representative Asen, as quoted by kompas.com on Tuesday.
“There are several rice sellers around the temple. We buy packets of rice from one seller for three days and order from another seller the following three days, until all sellers get their turn,” he added.
Asen added that this year was the temple’s first time offering takjil to Muslims. The temple's management initiated the deed to strengthen the relationship among residents of different faiths. (vla)
