Priest accused of raping, murdering woman at church compound

he North Sumatra Police have arrested a priest who was accused of raping and murdering a woman at the Gereja Sidang Rohul Kudus (GSRI) church compound on Jl. Kebun Sayur in Deli Serdang regency, North Sumatra.
The police said on Friday the victim, R, 21, was found dead on Thursday in the bathroom in the priest’s house, which is next to the church building. Wounds were seen all over her body, the police report said.
The detectives believe the woman was killed by priest Henderson Kembaren, 49, after he raped her.
North Sumatra spokesperson Adj. Sr. Comr. Tatan Dirsan Atmaja said Friday the police found traces of sperm in the victim’s genitals. “We’re waiting for confirmation from the doctor’s examination,” he said.
Tatan said beside the sperm traces, the police also found slash wounds on her neck and the back of her head.
Tatan said the suspect admitted to killing the victim but he denied raping her. Henderson told the police he killed her because he was angry at what the victim said to him. (evi)
