A blaze that engulfed the sixth and seventh floors of the Niaga Building in the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) commercial complex in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, was put out at 6:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Central Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Roma Hutajulu said.

"The fire allegedly started at around 5 p.m. It was put out at 6:25 p.m. The firefighters are currently cooling down the damaged area in preparation for investigating the site," Roma told the press.
"It's a new building and there reportedly were some construction workers inside. But for now, I can safely say that there are no fatalities," he added.
Roma went on to assure that the annual Jakarta Fair was not disrupted by the incident.
Firefighters rescued five workers who were trapped on the building's seventh floor during the fire.
"Our personnel escorted them out of the building at 6:20 p.m.," said Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency head Hardisiswan as quoted by kompas.com.
