akarta is set to dispatch 2,655 buses for mudik (exodus) to celebrate Idul Fitri. Jakarta Transportation Agency head Andri Yansyah ensured that the ramp checks have been completed. Construction projects at bus stations have also been halted for travelers’ safety.
“There are 2,370 regular buses and 295 additional buses. They are all in perfect condition,” he said on Wednesday as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.
The buses will depart from nine bus stations across the city, Andri added, namely Pulogebang, Kampung Rambutan, Rawamangun and Pinang Ranti bus stations in East Jakarta; Kalideres and Grogol bus stations in West Jakarta; Tanjung Priok and Muara Angke bus stations in North Jakarta and Lebak Bulus bus station in South Jakarta.
Besides those buses, thousands of other buses have been provided by state-owned and private companies. Another 2,863 buses from state-owned companies will depart from Taman Impian Jaya Ancol in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. An additional 242 buses from private companies will leave the city from Taman Mini Indonesia in Cipayung, East Jakarta.
“The peak of the Idul Fitri holiday traffic will likely start on June 7 and last until June 23,” he said. (vla)
