oordinating Maritime Affairs Minister Luhut Pandjaitan has declined to comment on the sealing of 933 buildings on reclaimed islets C and D in Jakarta Bay on the northern coast of Jakarta by the Jakarta administration.

“I don't know. Ask the Jakarta administration,” said Luhut in Jakarta on Thursday when he asked by journalists to comment on the city administration’s move.

On Thursday, hundreds of public order officers were deployed to seal the buildings led by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

The administration said that the buildings, which were developed by PT Kapuk Naga Indah, a subsidiary of the Agung Sedayu Group, were constructed without building permits (IMBs).

“I do not know the story, how can I respond?” said Luhut as reported by kompas.com when journalists pressed for a comment from the minister at the House of Representatives building.

Anies said the 933 buildings comprised 409 houses, 212 office-houses (Rukan) and 312 other types of buildings.

He said the move indicated the seriousness of the administration in enforcing the law. He called on people to abide by the regulation before constructing buildings.“I hope all parties follow the law in development activities, not vice versa, constructing first, then obtaining permits,” the governor added.
