he State Palace has received the resignation of Yudi Latif as the top executive of the Agency for Pancasila Ideology Education (BPIP), formerly known as the presidential working unit on the implementation of Pancasila state ideology (UKP-PIP).
Presidential spokesperson Johan Budi confirmed that Yudi had sent a letter announcing his departure after working for a year as BPIP head to President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo on Thursday. The letter was received by the State Secretariat and Cabinet Secretariat on Friday morning.
In the letter, Yudi said that since the UKP-PIP had been transformed into the BPIP, which placed the agency on the same level as a ministry, its work had increased to the point of being overwhelming and left him little time for his family, Johan said.
"After a year, Pak Yudi Latif feels that the transformation of the BPIP [...] is almost complete and so he considers his professional duty done, and thus he can focus on personal matters," Johan told journalists on Friday.
He went on to say that President Jokowi had yet to read the resignation letter and respond it.
In a written statement received by the press, Yudi announced his sudden resignation and revealed that members of the BPIP's steering committee had not been paid for a year since the agency was established in June 2017, because of a lack of a presidential regulation (Perpres) stipulating members' financial rights.
