eople wanting to obtain a new driver's license will have to answer 24 questions while those wanting to extend their license will have to answer 18 questions, the Jakarta Police confirmed after the Daan Mogot Police’s psychological test simulation in West Jakarta on Thursday.
Starting on June 25, the Jakarta Police will require drivers to undergo a psychological test to obtain a driver’s license, with the aim of reducing traffic accidents.
“We have also asked the psychological test organizers to computerize the test, so test takers will answer questions on computers [provided at the test venue],” the police’s driver’s license section head Comr. Fahri Siregar said on Thursday as reported by kompas.com.
He said people will have to pay Rp 35,000 (US$2.48) to undergo the test.
He added the test will examine the psychological health of drivers in compliance with National Police chief Regulation No. 9/2012 on driver’s licenses.
People can directly take the test at the test venue and will be accompanied by a psychologist and an assessor. “If anyone fails the test, they can retake it,” he said. (ami)
