Sumatran coffee in a nutshell
Sumatran coffee is said to be the most popular single origin coffee at Starbucks.
In fact, the Sumatra blend is not only popular among Starbucks’ customers. Howard Schultz, the founder of Starbucks, is also a fan of Sumatran coffee.
In a letter announcing his resignation, Schultz wrote, “I write to you today enjoying a french press of my favorite coffee, aged Sumatra, and [I am] feeling so many emotions.”
Here comes the question: What made the founder of the world’s largest coffee chain fall in love with Sumatran coffee?
Jakpost guide to bookworm havens
Jakarta is home to numerous spots for bookworm. Below are places worth visiting to channel your inner bibliophile.
Rimba Baca
Adopting a family library as its concept, Rimba Baca is stocked with children’s books on its first floor and adult books on its second. Those entering the library are required to take off their shoes.
The first floor is home to children’s books for all ages up to 12 years old. The books range from activity books and encyclopedias to fiction works. Most of the books are in English, but there are also works in Indonesian and other languages, including Japanese, Korean, Indian and Chinese. Families mostly come on the weekends. The library also has an art room where children can learn to draw and express themselves creatively.
How men can get into yoga
When most people think about yoga, it is typically dismissed as a feminine pastime. But according to Ben Lucas , a former professional rugby player for the Cronulla Sharks, more men should work against the stereotype.
“I started doing yoga because I was preparing for an ultra-endurance run and I was really tight, sore and struggling to recover. I found that regular practice of yoga ultimately improved my range of motion and performance in the running area. Yoga is for everyone no matter your age or fitness level, I truly believe that,” said Lucas.
Indonesia-born professor receives top award in Australia
Indonesian-born professor Rose Amal has been awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia, an award given by the Australian government as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday honors list.
Born in Medan, North Sumatra, Amal — who moved to Sydney 35 years ago — was recognized for her work in chemical engineering, especially in the particle technology field. She was also viewed as a role model for women in science, as quoted by abc.net.au.
“I am very, very honored by this,” she said. “I’ve got to say, when I came here 35 years ago as a student I never thought — I never dreamed — that I would be recognized by Australia.”
