An abandoned baby girl believed to be 3 months old was found on Thursday in an alley located in Palmerah, West Jakarta.
She was rushed to a community health center (Puskesmas), where she is currently being examined, according to Jakarta Social Affairs Agency official Supriadi.
“On Thursday, June 21, at around 11:30 a.m., we found a baby girl [who is] 2 to 3 months old [...] The baby appears to be in good health and even smelled of talcum powder, appearing to have been bathed recently,” Supriadi said in a written statement released on Friday.
“The baby was found by a resident, Hajjah Rohana.”
Authorities have yet to discern how long the baby had been on her own, he added.
“If the baby is healthy and stable, we will take her to Asuhan Anak Balita Tunas Bangsa orphanage [in East Jakarta]. There, the baby will receive full care and treatment,” Supriadi said.
