The Jakarta Transportation Agency towed 16 motorcycles that were parked on sidewalks in front of the Jakarta Council in Central Jakarta during celebrations for the city’s 491st anniversary.
“[The motorcycles] were towed by the police’s traffic unit for parking illegally and the owners will be fined Rp 500,000 [US$35.49],” the Central Jakarta Transportation Agency’s head of operations, Boval Juliansyah, said on Friday as reported by kompas.com.
He said the motorcycles were brought to the Central Jakarta Transportation Agency office in Senen, Central Jakarta.
“We are not yet authorized to carry out any further actions regarding the motorcycles,” he said.
He added that the motorists had parked their motorcycles on the sidewalks because the Jakarta Council parking lot was closed for a special plenary session to commemorate Jakarta’s 491st anniversary on Friday afternoon.
